Certification strengthens Advent IM’s commitment to high-quality, practitioner-focused data governance and security training as organisations prepare for new legislative requirements.

Advent IM is pleased to announce that its Data (Use and Access) Act (DUA) Training has been formally CPD Certified, reinforcing the consultancy’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible training that supports organisations as they respond to new and emerging data governance requirements. The CPD certification further validates Advent IM’s approach to providing practical, expert-led instruction at a time when UK organisations are experiencing a shift in the laws and requirements governing data use and security.

The new Data Use and Access Act, which updates the framework for how data may be accessed, shared and used across sectors, places increased emphasis on lawful, transparent, and secure data handling. For many organisations, especially those working with sensitive, operational, or citizen data, understanding these new obligations is essential  for ensuring accountability, transparency, and public confidence in how data is used.

The DUA Act also sits alongside and interacts with the forthcoming Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, which aims to strengthen the UK’s overall digital resilience and introduce clearer responsibilities for organisations handling data and operating essential systems. Together, these developments mark a decisive shift toward a more robust and accountable data and cyber-security environment.

“Advent IM’s CPD-Certified DUA Act Training has been designed to help organisations interpret the new requirements in a practical, operational context. The course supports data owners, information governance professionals, security managers and compliance leads in understanding how the Act affects access controls, sharing agreements, data minimisation obligations, and overall risk management practices. Delegates receive guidance on implementing compliant processes, identifying risk, and embedding the Act’s requirements within existing governance structures” explains Advent IM Head of Training Academy, Michelle Horton.

The certification strengthens Advent IM’s already comprehensive Training Academy, which provides a wide range of security, data governance and information security compliance courses. Organisations can now undertake DUA Act Training with the assurance that it meets recognised professional development standards and supports continuous learning for their teams.
