Advent IMpact | Michelle supports Wild Zoological Park in Halfpenny Green, West Midlands

As part of Advent IM’s Employee Supported Volunteering days, Michelle, Our Head of Training Academy, took the opportunity to support Wild Zoological Park in Halfpenny Green, West Midlands, which is a small, conservation-focused zoo offering immersive wildlife experiences across themed zones such as African Plains, Tropical House, and Woodland Walk.
The park provides close-up encounters with a variety of species including lemurs, meerkats, reptiles, and birds of prey, alongside engaging educational talks and spectacular free-flight bird shows.
During Michelle’s visit, she collaborated with the Head Keeper and other dedicated staff, whose primary focus is exceptional animal care, with policy documentation being a secondary priority. The documents they had developed were already well thought-out, but Michelle was able to offer expert suggestions to help elevate the quality of the content and make it more maintainable, ensuring improvements didn’t impact the time and attention rightly devoted to animal care. Michelle has since offered continued virtual support and look forward to another day on-site later this year.
