Business Continuity Awareness Week is upon us and we wanted to contribute to this key business area awareness raising for a few reasons. Firstly, we know how important it is because all businesses suffer from unintended events (or the odd intended one too!) that can impact their ability to carry on. Planning for the most likely and damaging ones can mean the difference from staying afloat or no, in some cases.
One of the first things we wanted to look at was the difference between Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC). Frequently mistaken for BC, DR is a part of business life without a doubt but BC is all about planning what to do and how to do it before interruption strikes.
